Trouble opening limelight docs
Reported by J David Eisenberg | November 1st, 2009 @ 11:12 AM | in Limelight 0.6
Configuration: Mandriva Linux Spring 2008; jRuby 1.4.0RC3, java 1.5.0_15
I do this from command line:
limelight open
The "available productions" window is empty; there was some error message, but it flashed by too fast for me to remember it.
and then choose "Open it" for limelight docs (from "featured productions"). I get a Limelight Alert: Failed to open Limelight Docs production. Invalid Session Key.
I redo the command, and the available productions now appear, and I am able to open Limelight docs.

This in interesting....
The "Invalid Session Key" error indicates that the Playbills client was not able to open a connection with the server. Yet, the fact that you were able to open the Limelight docs afterward means the client was connected after all. I'm guessing that the connection process took way longer than expected. This caused the "Available Production" listing to fail and the first attempt to load Limelight Docs to fail. By the seconds attempt to load the docs, the connection was established.
Clearly a better job needs to be don'e with the playbills client in inform the users of connectivity. The client should gracefully handle delayed connections and retry failed connections.

I found a similar problem on windows xp, I have a slow broadband connection, several attempts to do limelight open failed without apparent error message, then if I was quick enough in my next try I succeeded.
